Toronto Tours

The city of Toronto lies in the center of some of the most stunning and interesting areas of Canada. Within easy reach of the city there are numerous attractions that make the ideal destination for a day trip. Because of the sheer variety of natural attractions close to the city, the majority of the main attractions that people will go and see on Toronto tours are related to the natural world, although there are also plenty of other man made sights too.

Perhaps the most famous sight close to Toronto is the Niagara Falls. They are a couple of hundred kilometers ay along the coast of Lake Ontario, but once you get to them, they are an unforgettable sight (and sound). It is no longer possible to get an unspoiled experience of Niagara falls, as the tourist industry that has grown up around the area has essentially been based on allowing visitors to see the waterfall from all possible angles, and millions of people travel to them each year, meaning that simply finding space on your own can be difficult. Popular trips include the Maid of the Mist boat, which sails right up to the bottom of the falls, and the cable car ride over the top. Both of these give you the opportunity to grasp the sheer power and majesty of nature at its most raw. Many people choose to stay the night at the falls so that they can see all the various attractions, and there are a number of hotels available. You will typically pay more for a room with a view of Niagara, but there are bargains available – particularly if you head over the border into the US, where the prices are somewhat lower.

Also within easy reach of the city of Toronto, and the subject of many tours of Ontario, the Algonquin National Park is an area of unspoiled countryside that is one of the most popular hiking and kayaking places in all of Canada. There are many small campsites and cabins available in the park, and it is a stunning and varied place to visit throughout the year. Tours through the landscapes are available, but the best way of seeing it is on foot – provided that the weather is at its best.
